At the beginning of all existence, the gods created the world. They breathed life into it, raised forests and mountains, and filled creation with plants, animals, and countless other beings. In the faith of Oldôr's inhabitants, everything that was created carries a part of the power and nature of its divine makers.
The humanoids of Oldôr know of the gods and, over the ages, have formed many cults and communities. Some follow the powers of light and shape their lives according to the ideals of a good deity. Others worship the forces of darkness. Still others believe in the necessary balance between both sides and choose the path of neutrality.
The different faiths do not deny the existence of the other deities. They differ in whose teachings they follow and which divine principle they entrust their lives to.
Religion and alignment are closely connected in Chronicles. A character who devotes themselves to a deity is expected to shape their actions according to that deity's values and commandments.
Which deity is valid for a specific character is determined by the canonical species-class combination in RARE Canon v1.0. The special Mist Elf + Shaman combination follows the explicit canonical exception: that character follows Nêan'drul.
