Hobbits are about ninety centimetres tall, somewhat round, and an exceedingly lovable species that usually has little interest in adventuring—assuming a Hobbit wears a hat at all. Most love their small homeland, the green woods and meadows of Strahlana, where they pursue their favourite activities: eating and sleeping. Few Hobbits think much about the great world of adventure beyond their borders.

They prefer the safety of home, dancing, enjoying home-cooked feasts, and celebrating the pleasant side of life.

Even so, a few—very, very few—Hobbits leave their homeland in search of experience, fame, honour, and wealth. Their neighbours view these brave Hobbits with mixed feelings: envy, head-shaking, or quiet admiration.

Adventuring Hobbits possess exceptional Dexterity and remarkable Speed. This makes them excellent pickpockets, tricksters, and thieves. Their musical talent is also well developed, and some become writers of hymns and poems or gifted storytellers.

On the road Hobbits like to talk at length about their deeds, sometimes testing their companions’ patience. In inns one often hears stories of a Hobbit who supposedly stole a powerful gemstone from the cave of a red dragon.

Such stories and the audacity with which they are told helped create the reputation of Hobbits as excellent thieves. Canonically, Hobbits can become Shadow Runners, Minstrels, and Forest Hunters. Merchant and entertainer remain worldly professions, not separate RARE classes.

Sometimes even the bravest Hobbit decides that a danger has become too great and refuses to take another step. Given their limited Strength and size, this is hardly surprising. Permitted religions depend on the canonical class combination.
