The Dwarves of Oldôr wandered across the continent for a long time before settling in caves and mountains as skilled smiths and fighters.
Dwarves are only a little taller than Gnomes and Hobbits, but are far stockier, stronger, and tougher. Because they prefer life underground, they possess darkvision. Their courage is well known, and even when they seem not to understand the danger before them, they can develop an almost stubborn drive to achieve their goal.
A Dwarf is rarely persuaded to abandon a plan even when success seems unlikely. Dwarves prefer to solve problems with a quick assault and the use of weapons rather than spend hours discussing plans they consider pointless. They are spontaneous, direct, and open about what they think and feel.
Canonically, Dwarves can choose Warrior, Knight of Light, and Shaman. Their traditional closeness to Warriors and Knights of Light remains part of their culture, but it is not their entire mechanical class selection.
Otherwise, Dwarves are generally peaceful and friendly folk respected by many species. Underground tunnels and chambers are their home. There they learn the value of different materials from an early age, and among many male Dwarves the beard is a symbol of pride.
In adventuring groups, some Dwarves—especially in the company of Elves—are known for extensive grumbling. Many Dwarven Warriors are rough fellows, and few have much patience for arts such as silent sneaking.
Thus it is often said that a single Dwarf can make more noise than an army of a thousand Elves. Which deity a Dwarf may choose depends on the canonical class combination; Knights of Light in particular are bound to good deities.
