Wüstenhai

Name not yet translated

Despite its name, the desert shark is not a fish but a reptile. It likely earned its name because it moves just beneath the surface of the sand much like a shark moving through water, with part of its small dorsal ridge protruding above the surface. It has sharp teeth and a murderous bite, and many grim stories are told about these hunters in and around the Desert of Madness. They hunt both by day and by night; a desert shark approaching under cover of darkness is almost impossible to see. Anyone planning a camp or rest should seek firmer ground, which makes it more difficult for these creatures to approach unseen—although such ground is rare in the desert.
