Shaman

The Shaman is one of the most mysterious classes on the entire continent of Oldôr. Everyone has heard of the great knowledge and wisdom of these people, and the legend that they can speak with spirits of past and present is widespread. Yet members of the order are rarely encountered. Shamans prefer a solitary life in the wilderness, far from civilisation, and seldom visit large settlements.

When they do, they are usually welcome. They care for the sick, teach the Shamanic code that demands balance in all things, and mediate disputes.

They travel in search of enlightenment and knowledge. It is said that Nêan’drul, Father of the Gods and Lord of Neutrality, revealed their code in ancient times. Shamans live by the teaching that good and evil, light and darkness, can never be completely separated.

Both exist side by side. A spark of evil can appear in what seems good, and something good can exist within evil. A Shaman guides their actions by this philosophy and strives to preserve the balance of the world.

Shamans love peace and rarely make use of their weapons. They live in harmony with the forces around them, take from nature only what they need, and respect life.

Their professional abilities are as mysterious as the Shamans themselves. Legends tell of their bond with elemental spirits, curses, hexes, and magical signs. Many people therefore treat them with great respect.

Most Shamanic hexes are not simply meant to cause harm. Shamans use healing arts and knowledge of plants to aid the creatures of the world and preserve balance.

An adventuring group that welcomes a Shaman into its ranks should expect wondrous things. It may learn to think differently and see paths closed to others.

Canonical religion exception: a Mist Elf who follows the Shaman path follows Nêan’drul. This combination is explicitly permitted and fixed despite the general association of Mist Elves with the light gods.
