The Priests of Oldôr are above all remarkable healers and valuable support for any adventuring group. They draw their power directly from the gods, have devoted themselves fully to them, and would not knowingly violate the teachings of their deity. As a gift, they were granted the power of magical healing.
Healing alone, however, is not enough to survive every danger. Over the ages Priests learned to use sacred energy offensively as well. At first they turned the same power used for healing into damaging spells; later some learned to invert it for stronger effects.
Priests therefore enrich a group not only by healing their companions but also by providing active support in battle.
Priests can be found throughout the land, but most often in temples where they honour their gods and reveal their faith to new followers.
They venture on journeys to proclaim their faith, persuade others of their deity’s power, and oppose enemies of their religion. They seek influence within their priesthood and among the faithful and are especially supportive of groups in which their faith has taken firm root.
Which deity a Priest may choose depends on the canonical combination of species and class. Priests of the light gods are generally loyal and helpful; Priests of Neutrality weigh the needs of the group against their own more carefully; Priests of Darkness pursue the aims of their deity and their own interests.
A particularly useful quality of a Priest is knowledge of other faiths and religious signs—you never know what sort of figures you may encounter during an adventure.
