Necromancers, also known as raisers of the dead, are true masters of the dark arts. Over time they turned away from the Mages and created their own form of magic. They are versed in summoning as well as shadow and soul energies.

In battles and wars they prefer to remain behind the main fighting. Their presence often goes unnoticed because they work from concealment. They send loyal servants from the realm of the dead—skeletons, ghouls, zombies, and other summoned creatures—into the fighting instead of standing in the centre of it themselves.

Necromancers usually live alone and withdrawn in old dungeons or ruins where they can pursue their studies of necromancy undisturbed. Uninvited guests and travellers would do well to avoid such places, for the summoned creatures and demons of Necromancers pose a grave danger to the living.

Necromancers are hated, despised, and feared by many peoples. No one wants a spellcaster to enslave their spirit after death or rob their mortal remains of rest by turning them into a zombie or skeleton. Some Necromancers also prolong their own cursed existence by draining life from others.

They can become immensely powerful, for armies of walking corpses are difficult for mortal hosts to stop. They rarely lack servants as long as fallen enemies can be returned to undeath.

Necromancers are devoted to darkness. Shâedar, their mistress, supports them in their dark undertakings and schemes.
